Description
Pictured is the Jekyll Island Club Hotel in the historic district of Jekyll Island State Park on the coast of Georgia. In the late 1800 and early 1900s many of Americas richest men including the Rockefellers, Joseph Pulitzer, John Pierpont Morgan, William H. Vanderbilt, Frank H. Goodyear and others -- spent the winter months with their families at their cottages in the Jekyll Island Club. The club closed in 1942, victim to the Great Recession and World War II. Later the private retreat was transformed to the Jekyll Island Club, one of the nicest hotels along the Georgia coastline.
