This spring scene is of Madison Buffalo Jump State Park in Gallatin County, Montana. Towering over the nearby Madison River, the Buffalo jump is a huge limestone cliff over which Native Americans, for some 2,000 years, stampeded herds of bison. Natives utilized bison for food, clothing, shelter and provisions. Pictured is the slope beneath the cliffs, with Montana's Madison Mountain Range in the distance.
